Sierra County, California
Tucked beneath the pines off Highway 89, our campground offers a simple, unhurried way to sleep beneath the Sierra sky — near water, near trees, near nothing that demands your attention.
About
Lower Little Truckee Campground sits along the Lower Little Truckee River in the heart of Sierra County — a stretch of the Sierra Nevada where the air is cleaner, the nights are darker, and the pace is whatever you make it.
The campground is open to campers who appreciate simplicity: a level site, a canopy of pine, and the sound of river water moving steadily past. There are no attractions here by design. The river is the attraction. The silence is the attraction.
Whether you're passing through the Sierras or returning to the same quiet corner year after year, this is a place that asks for very little and gives back a lot.

Surroundings
Sierra County is one of California's most sparsely populated places — and that's exactly what makes it worth visiting. The Lower Little Truckee River carves through ancient granite and pine, offering fishing, swimming, and solitude in equal measure.
Nearby, the town of Truckee provides supplies, meals, and trailheads. Further afield, Lake Tahoe is within reach, along with countless Sierra Nevada trails, meadows, and alpine lakes that reward those willing to hike a little farther.
In winter, the area transforms — snow blankets the pines, the river slows beneath ice, and the campground becomes a quiet base for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
